Hi! I’m Sara, and I’ll be running JUDA, a Sunday experiential and learning program for children to learn all about their Jewish heritage, Jewish life and traditions and reading Hebrew. I was lucky enough to study education in Israel and Vienna, and attained a BEd in Education of Religion from the Lauder Institute in Vienna. I have taught in day schools in Vienna, the US and London and in Sunday schools in London and the US. I am drawn to child-led and experiential methods of learning, and like to incorporate aspects of the Regio-emilia approach to learning.
Judaism Through the Arts caters to all types of children. We use a variety of arts, including drama, cooking, painting, sculpting and singing in order to engage and involve our students. The children will enjoy Israeli music sessions, and focus on building their Hebrew reading and speaking skills through fun activities and games. Children thrive when they feel part of the learning experience and learning through the arts gives us the tools to live, love and learn about our Judaism.
As we enter our second year, we will be led by a capable, lively and warm teacher. Afek Shamir will be our main teacher for this year. He will lead the classes in Ivrit and English. The teacher will be supervised by Sara, and have all had enhanced DBS checks. Learning and play will be tailored to each individual child with warmth and care. JUDA will take place on Sunday mornings 10:30am – 12:30pm, in West Greenwich. Location will be sent after registration.
JUDA of Greenwich and Docklands is a project of Chabad of Greenwich and the Docklands.
